As tensions continue to mount between India and Pakistan, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) in Amritsar has issued an urgent advisory for residents to remain indoors, switch off lights, and draw curtains for their safety.
“All citizens are requested to stay indoors and away from windows, keep lights turned off, and draw the window curtains. There is no need to panic,” the DPRO said in a public message, adding that siren alerts would be used to communicate further instructions.
The DPRO emphasized that the armed forces are actively handling the situation and urged the public to cooperate fully by following safety protocols. “Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors,” the official stated.
This alert comes in the wake of escalating cross-border hostilities, where two Pakistani drones were shot down by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Naushera sector amid heavy artillery exchanges.
Additionally, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff confirmed that Pakistani missiles and drones targeted Indian military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. The Indian Armed Forces responded decisively, neutralising all threats with no casualties reported.
In an official statement on X, the Defence Staff noted: “Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu and Kashmir, targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised… as per SoP with kinetic and non-kinetic means.”
